About Me.

A moment is sometimes all it takes.  Learning how powerful the story we tell yourself is has changed how I view myself.  I realised that it is so easy to convince yourself that a particular narrative is true and to allow it to shape who you are.  In effect, to fall into a pattern of negative self-hypnosis, through repeating patterns of thought, neurologically conditioning emotions and behaviours through the stories we tell ourselves.  This realisation, led me to take a step back and to begin to think about the power of the mind.

Hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis have given me personal insight into my own life, to re-imagine a future, gain a new perspective on past experiences and build physical and emotional resilience.  I leant that hypnotherapy could help identify my unhelpful thoughts, beliefs and behaviours. Even the process of identifying these started to increase awareness, reducing the automated patterns and initiating positive transformation.  I discovered that hypnosis is a skill that allowed me you to use my thoughts to imagine and experience things differently.

It was this insight into the power of the mind and my interest in the interrelationship between physiology, cognition and behaviour that made me interested in 'hypnotherapy'.  With a science background, an evidence-based, common-sense approach to hypnosis appealed to me, especially one supported by cognitive behavioural, neuroscientific research.

Before working as a therapist, my previous employment included teaching biology in secondary schools.  My time in the classroom and working with teenagers afforded me experience in explaining more complex biological processes simply and in different ways.  My other professional experience comes from working within the charity fundraising sector as an account manager.  I am organised and client-focused and adopt a thorough approach to everything I undertake.

Outside of work, I like spending time with family and friends, going on camping trips, sitting around the campfire, gardening, doing yoga, walking in the countryside, spending time by the sea, exercising, dry stone walling, beekeeping.

I have discovered that the mind is a powerful tool that can be trained to initiate and inspire positive change.  Through the experience of the positive effect of hypnotherapy, I want to help other people learn the skill of hypnosis, to help them transform unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviours
